May 2019 - Sketch Challenge

Good morning Krafters!

Hello May!!! As always, last month vanished all too quick! We truly appreciate all who participated in our “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” challenge, the Facebook K+ Community page is looking fabulous! There were some very creative takes on last month’s challenge, I loved them all!

Now...onto this month’s brilliant “Sketch” challenge. Who doesn’t love a good sketch to inspire you! I know I certainly love them and judging by this month’s inspiration from the Design Team, so do they. We want you to be inspired by the colour swatches and the sketch this month.

SKETCH CHALLENGE!

The Kraft Plus Design Team

As always, these girls have amazed me with their creativity!

I've had this photo of myself in my to scrap pile for a while. It was taken after a very fun night with some fabulous ladies. When I found the pink flowers from Cocoa Vanilla's Happiness collection I knew I had to get them on this page. I find them so beautiful the page didn't really need much else

My May page

I decided to add the graph paper to the bottom part of the layout, and used the stripes in other areas on the layout. For the number component I have used washi tape with numbers. I stitched some fabric onto the page, and then stitched a frame around the photo.

I’ve been loving the art journaling of late, and thought this sketch would also work perfectly for that. Sketches certainly take out the hard work and I love a project that I don’t have to think! I’ve also been loving the Dina Wakley Collage Collective book with it’s designs, using a couple of square designs and a tag...too easy!

The perfect challenge for those of you who love a good sketch! And this was such fun to interpret. I used more the sketch than the swatches- but picked up the red colour. The diagonals were created with a paint pen! Looking forward to seeing your creations for this months K+ challenge!!

Hi. I loved this sketch as the base for my layout.. and was inspired by the colours as well.. TFL!

‘So much grey to every story’-I have flipped this sketch. I had a blast creating this page.We would love to see your interpretations of this sketch challenge over here at Kraftplus.

I really loved the sketch and the colours made me think immediately of Christmas. Then I found this kraft with gold and I just had fun playing and putting this page together!

I love a sketch, it gives you a start when you might not be sure what to do with a page. This photo is an old one of my youngest’s christening from 2011. I am still catching up with old photos! I used mixed media for my background and used some D-lish Scraps embellishments to finish it off.

Here's a pic of my kiddies in 2012 during our Darwin to SA, road trip. We fell in love with the Yarn Bombing art works in Port Adelaide. I've used texture paste for the white numbers and stars, washi tapes, date stamps, Heidi Swapp screen print for the bottom, and some Echo Park stickers and papers!!!

Guest Designer

We welcome Rachel Langdon as this month's Guest Designer!

Hi my name is Rachel and I am thrilled to be joining the Kraft Plus community this month with my interpretation of the sketch for May. First off I flipped the sketch and worked vertically down the page using some white gesso for my base then adding stamping, paper layers and machine stitching. I kept the embellishments pretty simple with the main features being some butterflies and a Charms creations heart. I have really enjoyed playing along with the Kraft Plus challenges this year and encourage everyone out there to give it a go. Thanks

Each month we are on the lookout for eye-catching projects for potential Guest Designers to join us. There is nothing extra you need to do, just share your layout/creation in the Kraft+ Community Facebook page. We hope you all embrace the chance.

We welcome all kinds of Kraft entries for our challenges, from a traditional layout, cards, digital layouts, art journal and tags etc., just please remember that it is all about the Kraft!!!

April 2019 - 'Alice in Wonderland'

Hello Krafters!

Firstly I want to make a sincere apology if anyone sent me an email last month. I had issues with our account, LOL basically I forgot the password and couldn’t get back in! It’s now kraftplusaust@outlook.com and I’ve done the cardinal sin and written the password down, so I won’t be locked out again. My apologies if anyone thinks I was ignoring them, I’m so very sorry.

Welcome to April!!! Haha I know I say it each and every month, but how quickly are the months flying past! We truly appreciate all who participated in our “Metallics and Jewels” challenge, the Facebook K+ Community page is looking fabulous!

Now, onto this month’s amazing “Alice by Andrea” challenge...where we want you to be inspired by the gorgeous illustrations by Andrea D’Aquino

My april page

Sandra - April challenge

This month I was inspired to create an art journal page, as I loved the whimsical feel of Andrea's illustrations. I've used some cut-outs from Dina Wakley's Collage Collective book...the colours were perfect!

Hullo fellow Kraft-ers! My inspiration for this month came from the big image. I basically took the colours, slapped some inks on & built up my LO from that. Decided to go a bit ‘mad hatterish’ & repeat the ampersand motif. For no reason! But that’s what Wonderland is like, right??!!! Hope you have fun with this challenge!

So, what to do when you cant sleep!! Finished just before the new month. My art journal take on the April challenge!

Hi. Here is my layout for April. I was inspired by the blues and greens of the back ground and made a painted back ground for my page.. TFL!!

“We’re all mad here”-I chose this quote from the famed Alice In Wonderland Book.It was the perfect quote to compliment the photo here. This picture was taken on a scrap retreat last year with an awesome and fun bunch of ladies.Thank you for a fabulous time!

I was inspired by the messy, arty images in the main image and the bold white text. I loved the small pops of other colours throughout all of the imagery and my black splatters represent the pops of black throughout

Guest Designer

This month's Guest Designer is Julie Schinkel

My layout was chosen as the favourite for the January "Indigenous Art" Challenge. That challenge was so easy, but this month was a little trickier for me lol. Using this month's mood board, I went with the White Rabbit as Alice in Wonderland is very on trend right now. I've used the "Alice Cards" from Stamperia's "Alice" Collection as my focal image with a heavily inked/stamped background and lots of green to make the rabbit pop. You can find close up photos of my page on my blog at juliescrafthaven.blogspot.com.au

Hello March - Metallics and Jewels!

Hello Krafters!

February is a super short month, and it vanished in a blink of the eye! We truly appreciate all who participated in our “book inspired” challenge, the Facebook K+ Community page is looking fabulous!

It’s with great pleasure to introduce our newest Design Team member, Tamara McMahon! Please make her feel welcome...

Tamara joined us a couple of months ago as a Guest Designer and has been a regular participant for several months before and after.

Now, how about we get onto this month’s sparkling “jewellery box” challenge...we want to see all that sparkles and shine with
METALLICS AND JEWELS!

The Kraft Plus Design Team

As always, these girls have amazed me with their creativity!

Kicking off the month with our newest Designer, welcome Tamara!

My metallics page for march

On my layout, I have used a chipboard corner, which I covered in silver paint. I then added metal with some metal pieces and also silver glitter title. For the jewels, I have used jewel brads, and some beaded flowers, that I took the brad centre out of. I also added a small jewel piece that was from a pair of earrings

Hidden Gems

My take on this month's 'metallic and jewels' challenge. I created my background using the gel plate...it's so delicous in real life, even if I do say so myself, though it's really hard to photograph.

Hey there! I’m sure we all love a bit of bling. Since I had a bling story, that’s more personal to me, I decided to do a traveller’s notebook spread. Kraft card stock is too thick for these booklets, so this time I used wrapping paper! It was a bit wrinkly, but this added some texture *winks*!!! I photographed it before adding to my TN, to keep it flat, but will add more photos on my blog post! So get out those rhinestones, glitter or Pearl Drops & start creating!!!

I did a page in my little Kraft Art Journal again this month, just love how quick I can throw something together in it. I scrapped a bling tag that I have had in my stash for quite a few years. One of my first purchases on Etsy

Hi. Here is my layout for March. I have used a broken necklace, some metal embellishments and a hint of bling in the flower centres. TFL!

  “Be Brave, Be Strong”

One of the things I know about myself is that I'm always thinking of the next 5 things I have to do. A visit to the Buddhist temples at Wat Chalong reminded me to do as Buddha said, "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment"

My take on the March Metallic Challenge. I used lots of bits and pieces from my stash. Each piece is threaded onto a piece of wire to make a banner. A simple card that can be used for any occasion..

Guest Designer

Hello All, My name is Maureen Wood and was excited when asked to be a Guest Designer for March, as i have never done anything like this before.
When i saw the brief it was hard to decide if i do one of our son's  wedding photo's or our granddaughter graduation photos. Graduation won out .
What i wanted to achieve is a frame within a frame with lots of gems around the main frame and a cluster of flowers at the bottom of the outside frame.  I took my inspiration from a frame i recently saw, which was a frame within a frame and a cluster of flowers along the bottom of the outside.  ( A very old frame from 1900's
I have been crafting for many years but when I retired 2 years ago I try to spend a couple of hours a day  at my craft table but I do hate mess so not a big fan of mixed media
I hope you like my layout . Further details  and photos of my flower clusters can be found on my blog: http://maudspapercreations.blogspot.com/

Thank you kindly for joining us this month Maureen, it's been a pleasure.
